My Apple Crisp Recipe couldn’t be easier to prepare! It’s a family’s favorite, no matter what time of the year: a crispy crumb on top and a juicy filling of bubbly apples underneath!
Add a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you have the perfect combination!
During the cold months I serve the apple crisp hot, fresh out of the oven. On the warm months, I serve it cold, sometimes even chilled. It’s absolutely delicious either way.
You can always prepare this apple crisp recipe in advance and heat it up in the microwave for 30 seconds (individual portion) just before serving.
- 6 apples (tart apples are best)
- 1 cup flour
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¼ cup very cold butter
- juice of ½ lemon
- Core and peel the apples. Chop them coarsely, in big cubes. Sprinkle the apples with the juice of half a lemon so they don't become dark. Place in a baking dish greased with butter
- In a bowl, place the flour, sugar and the very cold butter. Rub the butter with the flour and sugar with the tips of your finger, until you obtain a coarse crumb
- Pour this crumb over the apples and bake in 350 degree oven for about 40 minutes, or until golden
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
Variations:
- You add 1 tsp ground cinnamon to the crumb mixture before you put over the apples
- You may add seedless raisins to the apples before you add the crumb
- You may add chopped walnuts to the dessert
- You may add 1/2 cup rolled oats to the crumb mixture before adding to the apples

I made this for a friend who is not a fan of desserts (I don’t know how she even became my friend — who doesn’t like desserts?!), for her birthday to replace the traditional cake… she LOVED it!! Now whenever I see her she always asks for it 🙂
So glad it’s super easy to make!
