The American version of the Alfredo sauce has the addition of garlic and heavy sauce.

Ingredients
  • Serves 4 to 6
  • 1 lb pasta of your choice
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan over medium low heat, melt the butter;
  2. Add the garlic and saute until it becomes fragrant;
  3. Add the cream and season with salt and pepper;
  4. Simmer for 8 minutes until it thickens;
  5. Meanwhile cook the pasta in boiling water until it's al dente (tender but with a bite to it);
  6. When pasta is done, drain and add the sauce;
  7. Start adding the parmeggiano and a little bit of the water if ithe pasta becomes dry;
  8. Continue tossing until the butter, cheese and starchy water become a velvety sauce;
  9. Toss well and serve immediately.
